Message from the SED Director – Summer Update

Dear colleagues and partners,

It is with great pleasure that we are launching our Sustainable Employment Department (SED) newsletter today. You will be receiving this email from us each quarter to keep you informed of the department’s activities. This first issue will be entirely dedicated to updating you on our different service’s reactions to the COVID‑19 pandemic.

As you may know, the SED maintained all essential services during the closure to ensure that clients continued to receive the benefits to which they were entitled. Department Directors regularly met with the Director General, Assistant Director General well as various provincial representatives in order to adapt to the new realities.

Online communications were quickly improved in collaboration with the Communications Department and the operation of our new Employment Services Facebook page was maximized, which allowed us to keep clients from all communities informed in real time. Additionally, a dedicated phone line was opened to the public for those with limited access to the Internet.

Please note that Childcare also continued to offer services to the region’s essential workers during the epidemic.

The Sustainable Employment Department is very grateful to our dedicated staff, most of which remained available during the building closure, either by coming in part time or working full time remotely.

We are glad to be back together at the office and look forward to continue serving the communities.

SED Director, Lydia Watt
